ST. LOUIS and SUWANEE, GA, April 24, 2026 /  United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1996 is the largest local union in the southeastern United States, representing workers across 34 collective bargaining agreements at 23 companies spanning multiple industries and locations. Based in Suwanee, Georgia, Local 1996 provides strong representation, resources, and expertise to support its Members in the workplace.

Local 1996 is committed to ensuring that workers understand and benefit from the protections of their union contracts. Through collective bargaining, the Local helps secure fair wages, strong benefits, and clear workplace rights, while also providing representation when issues arise on the job. Its work empowers Members with the knowledge, support, and confidence to succeed in their careers.

As part of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union—representing 1.2 million workers across the U.S. and Canada—Local 1996 is part of a broader movement dedicated to improving wages, benefits, and working conditions for working families. From grocery and retail to healthcare, manufacturing, and food processing, UFCW Members play a vital role in strengthening communities and keeping essential industries running.
