ASTTU Welcomes New Partner: ILA Local 2038

ST. LOUIS and PORTAGE, IN, June 26, 2025 / — Since 1941, ILA Local 2038 has represented the highly skilled workforce that moves, processes, and safeguards the steel-coil supply chain at the Port of Indiana–Burns Harbor. Nearly 500 Members operate overhead cranes, slitter and temper-mill lines, coil-yard equipment, and warehouse docks—keeping one of the Midwest’s busiest steel corridors running safely and efficiently.

Rooted in a culture of rigorous training, safety, and solidarity, Local 2038’s crews handle 20- to 40-ton coils with precision while fighting for livable wages, quality benefits, and fair working conditions. Their versatility supports companies such as Feralloy Midwest, Central Coil Processing, and Indiana Pickling & Processing, ensuring manufacturers across the region receive on-time, value-added steel products.

The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) is honored to welcome ILA Local 2038 as a new partner. Together we will support their Members, strengthen protections, and advance a stronger future for union labor in Indiana and beyond.
