ASTTU Welcomes New Partner: IBEW Local 558

We’re proud to stand with IBEW Local 558 in a shared commitment to protecting Members, strengthening union labor, and building a stronger future for electrical workers across North Alabama.

ST. LOUIS and SHEFFIELD, AL, July 15, 2026 / — International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 558 has proudly represented skilled electrical workers across North Alabama for more than a century. Originally chartered in 1918, the Local serves electricians throughout the region from its headquarters in Sheffield and its unit office in Huntsville, providing strong representation and promoting excellence throughout the electrical industry.

Local 558 is dedicated to advancing the principles that have guided the IBEW since its founding in 1891—organizing workers, promoting fair wages, improving workplace safety, supporting quality training, and strengthening the communities its Members serve. Through collective bargaining and member involvement, the Local continues to protect the rights of electrical workers while helping them achieve rewarding, family-sustaining careers.

Training and professional development remain central to Local 558’s mission. The Local shares its headquarters with the North Alabama Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Center, where apprentices receive the education and hands-on experience needed to meet the evolving demands of today’s electrical industry. This commitment to developing highly skilled craftspeople ensures that Local 558 Members continue to deliver the quality workmanship and professionalism for which the IBEW is known.

The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) is honored to welcome IBEW Local 558 as a new partner. Together, we will work to protect their Members, support union labor, and continue building a stronger future for electrical workers across Alabama and beyond.
