We're proud to stand with IBEW Local 474 in a shared commitment to protecting Members, strengthening union labor, and building a stronger future for electrical workers across West Tennessee.

ST. LOUIS and MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 15, 2026 / — The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 474, representing highly skilled electrical workers across the Memphis area in construction, manufacturing, government services, electrical cooperatives, and other sectors of the electrical industry.

Chartered on January 13, 1906, IBEW Local 474 has served working families in Memphis for more than a century. Its roots trace back to 1892, when the first electrical workers’ union was organized in Memphis to advocate for safer working conditions and better wages. Since receiving its charter, Local 474 has continued to grow while providing strong representation and advancing the interests of electrical workers throughout the region.

IBEW Local 474 is committed to developing the next generation of skilled electricians through the Memphis Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). The five-year apprenticeship program combines classroom instruction with extensive on-the-job training to prepare Members for successful careers while helping meet the evolving needs of the electrical construction industry. Through its partnership with the Memphis Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Local 474 also works to promote excellence, innovation, and workforce development throughout the industry.

Through this partnership, Members of IBEW Local 474 will have access to ASTTU Membership and a range of programs, resources, and benefits designed to support union Members and their families.

The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) is honored to welcome IBEW Local 474 as a new partner. Together, we will work to protect their Members, support union labor, and continue building a stronger future for workers across Tennessee and beyond.
