ASTTU Welcomes New Partner: IBEW Local 443
ST. LOUIS and MONTGOMERY, AL, March 6, 2026/ — International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 443 has a proud history representing skilled electrical workers in Montgomery and throughout the surrounding region. First chartered in Montgomery on January 27, 1913, Local 443 has built a long tradition of serving its Members and advancing the electrical trades in Alabama.
Local 443 represents a mixed membership of electricians, linemen, and electronics maintenance technicians, all of whom play a vital role in building, maintaining, and powering the infrastructure that communities depend on every day. Through collective strength and professional skill, the Members of Local 443 continue to uphold the standards of craftsmanship and reliability that define the IBEW.
Throughout its history, Local 443 has demonstrated resilience and commitment to the labor movement. After an early charter period and a temporary hiatus during the Great Depression, the Local was re-chartered on August 22, 1933, and has operated continuously under that charter ever since. Generations of union members have worked together to strengthen their trade, protect fair wages and working conditions, and support the communities they serve.
Today, IBEW Local 443 continues to carry forward that legacy. With regular membership meetings held at its union hall in Montgomery, the Local remains focused on supporting its Members, promoting solidarity within the electrical trades, and preparing the next generation of skilled workers for the opportunities ahead.
The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) is honored to welcome IBEW Local 443 as a new partner. Together, we will work to protect their Members, support union labor, and continue building a stronger future for electrical workers across Alabama and beyond.
