ASTTU Welcomes New Partner: IBEW Local 1316
We’re proud to stand with Local 1316 in a shared commitment to serving Members and building a stronger future for union labor.
ST. LOUIS and MACON, GA, July 23, 2025 / — Founded in 1942 in Macon, Georgia, IBEW Local 1316 has long served as a backbone of central Georgia’s electrical workforce. From its early days supporting industrial growth through mills, power plants, and defense installations, to its current work across utilities, public works, and private industry, Local 1316 continues to advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, and professional advancement for its members. With a strong tradition of training, mentorship, and service, the local prepares workers to meet the demands of a constantly evolving electrical industry.
Local 1316’s leadership has remained remarkably steady over the decades, a testament to the union’s deep-rooted values of Brotherhood, integrity, and commitment to its members. Its mission reaches beyond the jobsite — seeking higher standards of living, personal dignity, and social progress for working families. Today, the local plays an active role in labor, political, and community life throughout Macon and the broader Middle Georgia region, helping to shape the future of the skilled trades in the South.
The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) is proud to welcome IBEW Local 1316 as a new partner. We look forward to working together to support Members, advance protections, and strengthen the voice of union labor in Georgia and beyond.
