ASTTU Welcomes New Partner: IBEW Local 130

We’re proud to stand with IBEW Local 130 in a shared commitment to protecting Members, strengthening union labor, and building a stronger future for electrical workers across Southeastern Louisiana.

ST. LOUIS and METAIRIE, LA, March 6, 2026 / — International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 130 has been a trusted source of skill, power, and pride for Southeastern Louisiana for more than 125 years. Based in Metairie, the Local represents highly trained electrical workers who build, maintain, and power the infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

Local 130’s mission centers on improving the lives of its Members while strengthening the electrical industry. Through active membership and engagement, the Local works to secure fair wages, safer workplaces, and better standards of living while maintaining a strong presence in the economic, political, and social life of the communities it serves.

Local 130 is part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a union founded in 1891 to improve safety, wages, and training in the rapidly growing electrical industry. Today, the IBEW represents roughly 750,000 active and retired members working across utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads, and government.

The Association of Skilled Trade and Transportation Unions (ASTTU) is honored to welcome IBEW Local 130 as a new partner. Together, we will work to protect their Members, support union labor, and continue building a stronger future for electrical workers across Louisiana and beyond.
