ST. LOUIS and MILWAUKEE, WI, October 16, 2025 / — The Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ Local 599 has been serving working families in Wisconsin for more than a century. With offices in Milwaukee, Kenosha, Madison, and La Crosse/Eau Claire, Local 599 represents highly skilled, well-trained, and productive plasterers and cement masons whose craftsmanship can be seen in schools, freeways, commercial buildings, and skyscrapers across the state.
Local 599 has built its reputation on excellence, personal service, and a commitment to its Members. By standing up for workers in the legislative, political, and social arenas, the Local continues to protect fair wages, safe working conditions, and strong union standards. At the same time, it supplies contractors with the best craftspersons in the industry—professionals who bring both skill and pride to every project.
The Local also plays a critical role in training the next generation of cement masons through Wisconsin’s most comprehensive apprenticeship program. This three-year, “earn while you learn” program combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training, allowing apprentices to master concrete placing, finishing, and safety practices while earning a competitive wage. By maintaining a diverse and inclusive training environment—and supporting veterans through MGIB benefits and pre-apprenticeship pathways—Local 599 ensures that the future of the trade remains strong and accessible.
As part of the Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ International Association (OPCMIA), which has represented skilled tradespeople since 1864, Local 599 continues to uphold the proud legacy of quality craftsmanship and union solidarity.
